Spirit of New Mexico Photography Contest
Celebrate the people, places, landscapes, and everyday moments that capture the spirit of New Mexico.
The Ruidoso Public Library invites photographers to participate in the Spirit of New Mexico Photography Contest, beginning Friday, May 1. Participants are encouraged to submit original photographs that reflect the beauty, culture, character, and sense of place found throughout New Mexico.
Important Dates
Submission Window: May 1–May 15, 2026 (by 3 PM)
Display at Library: May 18–May 30, 2026
Judging Date: May 27, 2026
Winners Announced: May 29, 2026
Eligibility & Entry Details
Open to adults (18+)
One (1) entry per person
Photos must be original work, taken in New Mexico during the contest period
How to Enter
Choose one of the following submission methods:
Digital Submission
Email your photo to library@ruidoso-nm.gov
Submit between May 1 and May 15 (by 3 PM)
Subject line: Photo Contest Submission – [Your Name]

Photo title
Location where the photo was taken
Attach the original image file
Note: Screenshots and cloud links (Drive/Dropbox) will not be accepted.
In-Person Print Submission
Drop off at the Front Desk, Ruidoso Public Library
Submission window: May 1–May 15 (by 3 PM)
Maximum size: 8x10 inches
Complete an entry form at the Adult Services Circulation Desk
Print Pickup: June 1–June 8, 2026 (by 5 PM). Unclaimed prints will be discarded.
Image Guidelines
Submit high-resolution images (3MB–10MB recommended)
Entries will be displayed as received
Low-resolution or pixelated images may affect display quality
Content Standards & Usage
Images must be suitable for public display
No violence, profanity, or suggestive content
By entering, you grant permission for the Library to display and use your image for promotional purposes
Entrants retain full ownership of their work
Prizes & Recognition
Top 3 photos will be displayed at Ruidoso Public Library and Village Hall
First Place will receive a grand prize
