A Ruidoso Public Library card gives you access to a world of knowledge, ideas, and creativity. With your card, you can:
Borrow books, DVDs, audiobooks, and more from our physical collection.
Enjoy digital resources from home, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, and databases for genealogy, language learning, job help, homework support, and lifelong learning.
Participate in library programs and services.
Visit New Mexico cultural attractions with the NM FamilyPass.
How to Register for a Library Card
Stop by the Ruidoso Public Library to register in person.
You’ll need to present:
Accepted photo ID (one of the following):
Driver’s License
U.S. Photo ID
U.S. Military ID Card
U.S. Passport
Matricula Consular Card (issued by Mexico)
Proof of address (one of the following):
Rental agreement showing name and mailing address
Vehicle registration or insurance document with your name and address
Utility, phone, or cable bill with your name and address
Pay stub with your name and address
Applicants under 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid library card. Cards can be issued at the same time.
Please note: Full borrowing privileges are available only to those who register in person at the library.

Apply for a Library Card Online
First-time cardholders can begin registration online.
After submitting your information:
• You’ll receive a temporary library card number valid for 30 days.
• This number allows you to place holds on materials.
• Visit the Ruidoso Public Library with photo ID and proof of address to validate and receive your permanent card.
If validation isn’t completed within 30 days, your registration will expire.
Temporary cards are also available at the circulation desk.
Library Cardholder Rights & Responsibilities
• Each person may have only one active library card.
• Cardholders are responsible for all materials borrowed and any charges for overdue, lost, or damaged items.
• Parents or guardians are responsible for activity on a child’s card until the child turns 18.
• Adults may not borrow materials for personal use on youth or children’s cards.
• Your card provides access to in-library Internet and licensed databases; these may not be shared with others or institutions.
• If your card is lost, report it immediately to prevent misuse. Replacement fee: $1.00.
• Notify the library if your address or contact information changes so we can update your record.
