Join Ruidoso Public Library for a summer of reading, activities, creativity, and discovery. Children, teens, and families can read, track progress, attend library programs, and enjoy special events throughout the summer.

How It Works
Register, pick up your materials, read throughout the summer, and turn in completed reading logs weekly.

Sign up online or in person at the library to participate in the Youth Summer Reading Program.
Pick Up Materials
Visit the library for reading logs, field notebooks, schedules, and program materials.

Read & Track
Read throughout the summer and track progress using your reading log. Complete Discovery Challenges in your field notebook and get a stamp for each completed challenge to be entered into the end-of-program raffle.
Turn In Weekly
Turn in completed reading logs weekly to qualify for prizes, raffles, and end-of-summer rewards.
Rules and Regulations
- The 2026 Summer Reading Program will run from May 27, 2026 through June 24, 2026 and is open to babies, toddlers, and students in grades K-12.
- The age groups are as follows: 0-4, 5-7, 8-10, and 11-18, including those 18 and still in high school.
- Participants must accurately record time spent reading on the RPL-provided reading logs.
- Babies and pre-readers, including toddlers, can be read to and have times and logs submitted on their behalf by an adult caregiver.
- Participants who wish to receive a weekly prize must submit their reading logs by the due dates printed on each reading log.
- Late reading logs will not be eligible for the weekly prize but will still count toward overall time read.
- One prize per age group will be raffled at the closing celebration for participants who submitted at least two weekly reading logs during the reading program.
- The final week’s log must be submitted to a member of the library staff no later than 5:00 PM on Monday, June 22.
- The Ruidoso Public Library will not accept late entries for weekly prizes, entries for weeks that have not yet occurred, or logs submitted after June 22.
- Winners will be announced at the closing celebration on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Teens can work together to solve clues, complete challenges, and escape before time runs out.
Closing Celebration
Celebrate the end of the Youth Summer Reading Program with a final library event for participants.
