Join Ruidoso Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program from June 1–29, 2026. Read books, attend programs, earn raffle tickets, and explore this year’s “Unearth a Story” theme through local history, archaeology, fossils, and storytelling events.
How It Works
Participation is simple. Register, track your reading, attend programs, and earn raffle tickets throughout June.
Register
Registration begins May 25 for adults participating in the summer reading program.
Pick Up Your Log
Reading logs will be available for download and at the Circulation Desk beginning June 1.
Read & Attend
Read books and attend adult programs to earn raffle tickets.
Submit Tickets
Submit raffle tickets for chances to win prizes before the program deadline.
Adult Summer Reading Events
Explore local history, archaeology, fossils, photographs, and stories from the region through this year’s adult program events.
Snapshots in Time: Unlocking the History of Your Photographs
Stephanie Long will share tips and techniques for dating and identifying elements of historical photographs, including clothing styles, photographic formats, and hidden clues within the frame.
Presented by Stephanie Long, Manager and Curator of the Wingfield Heritage House Museum.
Zuhl Museum Fossils and Rocks Trunk Exhibit
Get up close with fossils, minerals, petrified wood, and ancient history during this interactive family-friendly experience featuring hands-on exploration and discovery.
Presented by Tiffany Santos, Curator of the Zuhl Museum at New Mexico State University.
Jornada Research Institute Lecture
Dave Greenwald explores how archaeological excavations at Cree Meadows and Tularosa Canyon are reshaping understanding of the Jornada Mogollon and ancient Southwest communities.

Program Rules & Eligibility
- Participants must be 18 years or older and have a Ruidoso Public Library card.
- Completed books must be documented on the reading log.
- Books must be read during the month of June.
- Earn one raffle ticket for each book read from the “Unearth a Story” book list.
- Earn one raffle ticket for every two books read that are not on the “Unearth a Story” book list.
- Claim raffle tickets as books are completed by showing your log to staff at the Circulation Desk.
- Earn one raffle ticket for each adult program attended.
- Raffle tickets for program attendance must be claimed on the day of the event.
- Logs and raffle tickets will not be accepted or issued after 5:00 PM on June 29.
Youth Summer Reading Program
Children, teens, and families can participate in the Youth Summer Reading Program with featured events, creative activities, reading challenges, and summer program resources.
